How to prepare your child

It’s great if your child learns “Ekornbarnas sang” and “Grønnsakspisesangen” at home, but it’s not required. You’ll find lyrics and music further down on this page. No other preparation is necessary.

What happens at the audition?

All registered children will be invited to a gathering where we create a safe and welcoming atmosphere, get to know each other a little—and then sing The Squirrel Kids’ Song and The Vegetable-Eating Song together.

We want the children to feel free to be themselves. This is not a competition to be the best or most talented. There’s no need for a trained singing voice or previous stage experience! Please come in regular clothes.

When is the audition?

April 22 at 6:00 PM – for children aged 6–9

April 24 at 6:00 PM – for children aged 10–12

We’ll be finished by 8:00 PM on both days.

Where is the audition held?

We’ll meet at Emmaus Frivilligsentral (Emmaus Volunteer Center), Rasmus Risas gate 33. Parking is limited, so we encourage you to walk, cycle, or take bus no. 4. Parents and guardians are welcome to stay—have a coffee inside while we sing and dance, or enjoy a walk along the nearby seaside trail.

Is there payment for performing?

The children do not receive payment, but will hopefully enjoy a strong sense of community and a meaningful experience performing alongside other children and adults. All participants will receive two free tickets to a performance of their choice.

Any profits will be allocated to future community theatre projects.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will take place both indoors at Emmaus Volunteer Center (Rasmus Risas gate 33) and outdoors in the open area at Emmaus where the performances will be held.

Performances

We need 7 squirrels and 1 Brumlemann. The children will be divided into 4 groups by age, and each group will perform 3 shows. This gives many children the opportunity to participate!

For the performances, Nabolagsteatret provide costumes and make up. The children are asked to wear their own pants, skirts, dresses, shorts, or rain gear and shoes.
