For a few days in June, the public recreation area, Emmaus at Storhaug will be transformed into “The Huckybucky Forest”

where you’ll meet Claus Climbermouse, Morten Woodmouse, Marvin Fox, Mister Hare and several other animals.

“Klatremus og de andre dyrene i Hakkebakkeskogen” is a Norwegian classic, brought to us by poet, author and playwright Thorbjørn Egner. “Claus Climbermouse and the other animals in the Huckybucky Forest” is a fun and exciting adventure about the animals living in the forest, resembling our own big world.

Claus Climbermouse is troubadour who loves singing more than foraging food. Claus Cimbermouse, Morten Woodmouse and the other small animals are always on the alert to avoid being caught and eaten by Marvin Fox. Luckily Father Bear decides that everyone must be kind to each other—and all the animals must live in peace…

Below you’ll find photos from past performances.

This year, we’re asking the audience to choose what they can or want to pay for their ticket.

Pay What You Can

As social and economic inequality increases, it’s more important than ever to break down financial barriers. The Neighborhood Theatre wants culture to play a central role in our community—and we want as many people as possible to be able to take part.

That’s why we’re moving away from last year’s fixed ticket pricing (which was the same for adults and children, with no discounts). In 2023, a ticket cost NOK 215 plus fees.

This year, we’re asking the audience to choose what they can or want to pay.

All income goes toward new projects for children and youth in the neighborhood

We Don’t Receive Public Funding, so we’re especially grateful for those who choose the higher ticket categories—any surplus goes directly to new theatre projects for local children and youth.

Ticket Categories

These are the “Pay What You Can” ticket options available through the ticketing system:

Betal det du kan 1: kr 280,-

Betal det du kan 2: kr 250,-

The performance is outdoors, and we hope the audience won’t mind a little rain — we’ll perform regardless.

Outdoor theatre

We perform no matter what. If the sun is shining and it’s warm, the audience can enjoy some time at Emmaus Beach after the show.

We’re On the Move!

The audience will be guided from place to place during the show—led by the animals of the forest! We encourage you to bring your own seat pad or folding stool. The performance area will remain open to the public and not be closed off, so we will not obstruct regular use of the area.

Limited Accessibility

Unfortunately, not all locations are accessible for people with mobility challenges. If you have special needs, we recommend contacting us before purchasing a ticket. Email us at: post@nabolagsteatret.no

Duration

The performance lasts just over one hour, with no intermission.

Allow plenty of time—the performance starts on time.

Take the Bus, Walk, or Cycle

You can reach the Huckybucky Forest by taking bus no. 4 to Emmausveien or Rosenli, then walk from there. The area has lovely walking trails, so it’s ideal for biking or walking—and a great chance to explore the natural beauty of this part of town.

Driving Not Recommended

Please don’t drive. There are very few legal parking spaces in the area, and we don’t want to contribute to congestion for local residents, emergency services—or risk anyone getting fined.

Food and Drink

We do not sell food, drinks, or candy. This helps reduce commercial pressure, especially for kids. This is a family-friendly event, and alcohol is not allowed.

Toilets

There is one public toilet at the end of Rasmus Risas gate, heading toward Emmaus Bay. It accepts coins and card.

Emergency Preparedness

The Municipality of Stavanger has granted permission to use the area for this production. Emergency services have been informed. In case of a serious incident, they will be notified.
